Fat Tuesday Bicycle Riding Outfit

So…I finally got out on my bike! Tom and I joined in on the first Fat Tuesday Bicycle Ride. We were running a bit late, so we caught up with everyone at the second location Kelly’s Irish Pub on Fourth St. in Coeur d’Alene. It took a bit longer to ride from home than we thought. Not being on a bicycle for three months is a long time I guess for your muscles. Took a bit to get back into sync. It may have had to do with choosing to ride our vintage cruisers too. No gears means your average speed is about 7-8 miles per hour on flat ground and maximum of 10 on the downhill.

My layering choices worked well for the cold temperatures. However, next time I need to remember my padded bicycle shorts under my jeans and wear thicker gloves. My bum is a bit sore today and by the end of the ride my fingers were a bit cold. Also, made a note that I should eat something before riding. You make pretty bad food choices when you are hungry, which means you may suffer later. I have also been doing a two week clean eating cleanse for two weeks so jumping right in with fried food and alchohol probably was a bad decision on my part!
Other than a few inconvenient things I really enjoyed the ride, the company, and I think I will do it again next Tuesday! Getting out and getting moving really does help when you are in a funk. If you are in the Coeur d’Alene area you should come out and join us.
I created a collection on Polyvore with my outfit for the evening and shared it below. Will do that from now on so people can see that riding isn’t always about spandex and atheletic wear.
